Revelation

A good friend of mine once told me that the last book of the Bible, Revelation is a love story. That intrigued me because Revelation scared the wits out of me. I decided that If I read it wrong or tried to explain it but bungled its meaning (from God's perspective) then I would be cursed. Who wants that? Not me.  I do know that I will spend eternity in Heaven. How do I know that? Because I accepted a Gift, not when it was first offered, but when I was deep in the pit of despair, where I cried out "Daddy please come, please help me." In an instant, He was there. Not my biological father, but my Heavenly one.

He wrapped His loving arms around ME, the impudent, wretched child who during her lifetime had challenged every commandment... and He whispered, "I am here beloved child." So, why do I now agree with my friend that the book of Revelation is a love story? Because The Word, who is Christ, tells us that He loves us so much that even during the split second as our soul departs from this tattered, hole filled, bruised, and broken body, we can come to Him.

According to my Bible scholar friend Tim, Revelation is the only book in scripture that promises a blessing to anyone who reads it. I had to go look, and sure enough it's right there in the first chapter.  In an attempt to describe what the book of Revelation means to me, I ask you to do this:

Think of Revelation as a special invitation to come into a massive room and have the privilege of seeing all things in the "NOW" what was, what is, and what will be--but getting to see this simultaneously, like God sees it. Getting the opportunity to glimpse God's perspective might jar the senses of someone who has spent a lifetime running ahead of God. But in this brilliantly lit room and with this supernatural experience, a life can be changed...forever.

My prayer for all mankind is that before they die,  they will be broken to know Him, the integral part of the Magnificent Three: the Father who is your rear guard, the Son who walks before you and always within sight, and the Holy Spirit who embraces your heart, guards your mouth and your path and carries your  prayers to The Throne.

This personal relationship is one that I have difficulty explaining to others except to say, "You'll know it when you know it."
